Winter Solstice 2008 and we have snow :)

What a great gift for Winter Solstice is a wonderful sun rise of pink sky with the snow shining like diamonds. I love wacthing from a warm and cozy home drinking a hot cup of coffee. This is Spencer making Fairy's in the Snow. Tonks was helping by running through it when he got up.

Life has been really crazy with working at the casinos, running a massage business, an Internet fabric store, planning a quilting retreat for 40 quilters which I have have a few spots open, and running a house hold. It sure doesn't leave allot a room for anything else. I have told my boys that this year is the year of homemade and that they are getting home things that are pratcial and very use able. To tell you the truth I am loving this more then anything I have done in years. Socks, fingerless gloves, bread, jam, peanut butter, and fabric shopping bags. because as of the first of the year here in the King County area we will be charged 15 cents for every bag when shopping.
My girl Tonks what a funny little dog in the snow she loved it.

Why Mothers get Gray or in my case gray hairs getting white

Last Thursday night my son Elliott picked up his brother Floyden and they drove to their dads house about 40 miles away. It was a normal November night here in Seattle Dark, raining really hard, windy, and just plan yukky out. To me it was the perfect night to sew my holiday prizes for good friends with a little dumb TV in the back ground. Maybe they to should pick up sewing Ha~Ha.
They were coming home about 8:30~9:00 on I405 North hit some water fish tailed spun three times across 3 lines of traffic, hit the guard rail on the right side, spun around 2 more times hitting the guard rail on the other side of the road back across the 5lines of traffic. Stopped going the same way they were going in the being. I 405 is a freeway with fast moving cars. So I get this call from Elliott telling he just totaled his car but they are fine. The Mother frikes out I can feel the gray hairs getting white. I hang up and minutes go by I get a call from my X yelling at me about Elliott getting in a car crash go figure I didn't understand then for 12 years and I will never understand him.
The boys are both Okay not even a scratch. Thank goodness I have my Angels watching over them.

So everyone is fine Elliott seems to be more upset that now he has to get a new different car and has no money for this. I am so gald that I color my hair blonde so I don't have to see the gray hairs getting white. Hummmmm maybe a few things like this happen I won't need the hair color but I think I like going to the hair dresser she gives a great shamppoo. Thank You Angels I love you for keeping my boys safe.

Wow It Has been a long time

It has been a long time sense I writing here. I have a new job and I am working 7 days a week for awhile. I count the money and poker chips at two local casinos.Plus work in the afternoon as a massage therapist, and selling fabric on my web page. I still find time to do a little quilting and have been working really hard to get all unfinished things done. These projects are almost done which makes me feel really good. I will be adding some things in the next couple days. Here is is my Rock The Vote. I voted this is one time I really felt the need to really make sure my vote was counted and heard. So glad that so many people felt the same way and made their voices heard for change. It's going to take time and hard work but I do have some faith again.

Elliott's Quilt

I made this for my son Elliott. The blocks are top stitched with glow in the dark thread which took 6 spools of thread. In the quilting guild that I belong to we have what we call friendship blocks. It works like this we choose the block and then the guild makes the blocks for you. You can provide the fabric or not.I provided the fabric and the group just made the stars because I wanted to sew them with the glow in the dark thread to make them the same. It's a fun way to do a quilt.
Tomorrow he starts a new job working at the YMCA as a preschool teacher helper. This is a job that I think he will do very well at and I am so very proud of him.

Elliott being silly at one of my Cut Up meetings trying on bridle dress tops at Christmas time.
Elliott's senior photo.
Being a mom of a child with special needs is not easy but things like Elliott getting a new job that he is going to ROCK at made everything that I have done to help him get to this space in time a good thing.I'm proud of both of us we did it together just Elliott and I.

Busy Busy Busy

Wow! time flys when your busy. School has started for Spencer he is now in full time kindergarten. It has been a challenge. He seems to be having a great time recess seems to be his favorite part of school right now. He does love to read and do art this is a picture that he made for me. He is into traffic lights and signals, I love the colors pink and purple. It's times like this that make me smile from the inside out. I sure do Love this boy named Spencer.
Smiles from the inside out are a Good thing right now in this world of darkness and coldness. I believe in the light of good and I know that the good will over come. There will be light again.

Making Punkie feel better

Sunday I took a quilt to my big sister who has bone cancer. This is a quilt that I made for her a little while ago but haven't had time to get it to her. She loves tea party's so I called this "Sisters Having Tea On Sunday" It was made out some blocks that I won that were made out this really neat tea pot and teacup fabrics in her favorite colors.I'm hoping that it made her feel better and will keep her warm.
I'm sure that Spencer helped her feel better dancing with her bear to a silly song. She seemed a little happier when we left. My other sister brought her a new kitten anything at this point to make her feel better. The kitten sure was fun to watch.

A day of Quilting

What a great day I have finished a quilt that I started a few weeks ago. The top only took me a day to do but I didn't have enough batting and my leg was hurting. I used my coupon to JoAnns for the batting and Bam! it's done with pillow slips to match. This was a fun and very easy quilt to make loved it and the colors.

I have one more quilt top to quilt and finish this weekend. This means that I only have 4 unfinished quilts to go. WOW ya for me this is the least amount of unfinished tops that I have had in years. My plan is working and I love it.
Plan is 1. don't start any new big quilts until the tops that have already been done are finished. 2. Use as much as my own stash for these projects and any new projects that is started.3. Make and give away to someone in need one quilt a month. I love the thought of doing some sewing room clean up. The giving away makes my heart feel really warm and fuzzy. LOVE is a Great thing. :)
